A Kahramaa official delivers a lecture on values of Tarsheed at the Qatar Scientific Club yesterday.
DOHA: Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) yesterday held an awareness lecture at Qatar Scientific Club for school students to promote positive values of Tarsheed, the national campaign for conservation and efficient use of water and electricity.
The event was organised by Kahramaa’s Conservation and Energy Efficiency department under its Corporate Social Responsibility programme.
Students from Al Jamiliye preparatory school and Al Radhi preparatory school took part in a lecture followed by a documentary, film and presentation on depleting natural resources and their environmental impacts. Through the interactive informative session, students were informed about the highest consumption of water in Qatar, rising carbon emissions, global warming, alternative energy sources and other environmental issues among others. Students were explained about the negativity of depleting water resources and they were encouraged to use water and energy rationally.
Speaking at the event, Kahramaa’s Engineer Hashim Mohammed Al Saada said that Tarsheed will add new dimensions with students’ participation and their concerns about the campaign itself reflects how this community has taken the campaign as a noble social cause.
Tarsheed, the five year national campaign for the conservation and efficient use of water and electricity, aims to increase environmental awareness and educate the public about the importance of consuming resources wisely.
Tarsheed presents a significant opportunity for organisations and individuals to join the national efforts to protect the country’s resources and reduce water and electricity consumption. Kahramaa is appealing to take an active role in the campaign to ensure Tarsheed’s success and the realisation of Qatar’s National Vision 2030. The Peninsula
