The death brings the number of international forces killed this month in Afghanistan to 20. May has been the deadliest month this year for international troops in Afghanistan, but casualties are down over previous years as foreign forces pull back and allow Afghan security forces to take the lead before the coalition ends its mission next year.

Hybrid cars to save LNG

ISLAMABAD: The Nawaz Sharif government will consider allowing duty-free imports of hybrid cars with engine power of up to 1800cc to rationalise the use of oil and gas.

These cars use oil and a battery as fuel. The use of such cars will reduce CNG gas consumption to a great extent.

The government will ban CNG vehicles so that gas can be supplied for domestic and industrial use.

Those having CNG vehicles would be facilitated to import hybrid cars up to 1800cc without paying any duty. The duty would be imposed if the imported hybrid cars are larger than 1800cc.
