ISLAMABAD: Pakistan celebrates "Yaum-e-Takbeer", the 15th anniversary of nuclear tests, on Tuesday.
Pakistan conducted successful nuclear tests on 28th May 1998 in response to Indian atomic provocation, which created regional imbalance when it tested 5 underground atomic blasts on 11th May 1998.
Pakistani political leadership at that time took the decision to equally respond to Indian atomic provocation and carried out with 6 nuclear blasts at Chaghi despite international pressure, according to NewsPakistan website.
After successful nuclear explosions Pakistan became the 7th atomic power in the world and first in Muslim Ummah.
Special functions have been arranged in various cities including Islamabad and Lahore to mark the day.
Special message of Prime Minister-designate Nawaz Sharif and impressions of political leaders and important figures from different walks of life will be aired by radio and TV channels. (QNA)
