Schoolboy dies after hit by reversing bus

DOHA: A 12-year-old student of the DPS Modern Indian School died in Messaied on Sunday evening after he was hit by a bus. 

The driver was reversing the vehicle when the mishap occurred.

Shawn Allen Abraham (pictured) was in the sixth standard, the Principal of the school, Asna Nafees, said, describing the incident as highly tragic.

The accident took place when the boy was returning at around 7.30pm after buying something from a provision store near his home in Messaied, some 32km south of Doha. The boy’s family comes from Adoor in the southern Indian state of Kerala.  Shawn was rushed for emergency medical care but succumbed to injuries.

Nafees said she and some of her colleagues from the school attended a condolence meeting near the mortuary of Hamad Medical Corporation last evening.
