Doha, Qatar: Qatar Olympic Committee President H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani crowned Al Duhail as champions of the Amir Cup handball tournament after they defeated Al Arabi 29-27 in a thrilling final at Duhail Sports Hall yesterday. Al Duhail reigned supreme in the decisive moments of a nail-biting title clash, with both teams locked at 17-17 by halftime.
The closely contested battle saw momentum swing both ways before Al Duhail sealed victory in the final stages. The triumph marked Al Duhail’s fifth Amir Cup title, adding to their previous wins in 2016, 2019, 2021, and 2023. Earlier this month, the side also clinched the Qatar Cup after defeating Al Arabi 30-26 – securing their third title in that competition.
