Harare: The State of Qatar, represented by the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), participated in the opening of the 10th edition of the Africa-Indian Ocean (AFI) Aviation Week, organised by the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) in cooperation with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

Qatar’s delegation was headed by Mohamed Faleh Al Hajri, who is in charge of managing the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA).

The regional forum aims to address a range of key issues related to the implementation of ICAO’s global and regional plans, the enhancement of aviation safety, infrastructure and air navigation development, responses to emerging security threats, and facilitation development.

In remarks during the opening session, Al Hajri underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation between the State of Qatar and African nations in the development of the aviation sector. He praised the active support provided by African countries during the Doha Facilitation Conference, held in April 2025, which culminated in the adoption of the “Doha Declaration for Facilitation”.

Al Hajri also highlighted Qatar’s prominent role within ICAO, emphasizing its continuous support for the organization’s initiatives and activities, and its significant contribution to the global development of the aviation sector.

On the sidelines of the event, Al Hajri held a number of bilateral meetings with heads of participating delegations. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation and coordinating positions in preparation for the upcoming ICAO General Assembly.
