Doha, Qatar: Shura Council Speaker H E Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim held talks here yesterday with Arab Parliament President H E Mohamed Ahmed Al Yammahi and his accompanying delegation.

H E Al Ghanim hailed the Arab Parliament’s role in supporting joint Arab action and enhancing coordination of national parliaments on issues of shared concern.

Meanwhile, H E Al Yamahi commended Qatar’s positions, led by Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, on Arab, regional, and international issues, primarily the Palestinian cause. In this context, he hailed Qatar’s efforts to halt the aggression on the Gaza Strip and continue providing humanitarian and relief aid to the Palestinian people.

The Arab Parliament President and his accompanying delegation have expressed their appreciation for the prominent role played by the Shura Council in strengthening Arab solidarity and coordinating and unifying parliamentary positions among Arab legislative bodies, enabling them to confront various challenges and support central Arab and Islamic issues, primarily the Palestinian cause.

The agenda included topics of Arab parliamentary interest, with both sides exchanging views on mechanisms for developing joint parliamentary action and activating Arab presence in regional and international forums to serve the supreme interests of Arab countries and peoples.

They emphasised the importance of continuing the coordination and cooperation achieved during the joint parliamentary process, and working to coordinate parliamentary positions to enhance the effectiveness of joint Arab action and contribute to supporting pivotal issues, foremost among which is the Palestinian cause.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Al Ghanim voiced hopes the visit would contribute to elevating Arab parliamentary cooperation to broader horizons and unifying efforts to confront current regional and international challenges.
