Doha, Qatar: Municipalities have announced a number of entertainment activities and shows with special focus on children to celebrate Eid Al Adha.
The activities will also feature an informative workshop and distribution of prizes and gifts among participants.
Doha Municipality and Al Daayen Municipality will hold the activities on June 29 and 30 from 4pm to 8pm at Place Vendome mall in Lusail. Al Sheehaniya Municipality will hold entertainment contests, cartoon characters shows on first, second and third day of Eid Al Adha from 6pm to 10pm at Al Sheehaniya Family Park. Valuable prizes and gifts will be distributed among winners of the contests and visitors. Al Rayyan Municipality will hold a number of entrainment and educational activities on first, second and third day of Eid Al Adha from 6pm to 7pm at Mall of Qatar.
Meanwhile, expecting a large number of visitors during Eid Al Adha holidays, the Public Parks Department of the Ministry of Municipality has extended the opening hours of public parks.
The public parks without fences will remain open round the clock under the supervision of the security personnel. However, Al Furjan (neighbourhood) parks for family and children will open from 5am to 1am during Eid holidays.
Encouraging sport and exercise culture among Qatari community, public parks have been receiving a growing number of visitors especially during the holidays and festivities. Most parks with fences located in residential areas are designated for families.
There are a number of other parks open to general public including families and individuals. Public parks have become major picnic places for people including families and individuals, especially during weekends and holidays.
People also use public parks to get together with families and friends on festive occasions and holidays. The number of public parks in Qatar reached 148 in 2022. Public parks have fitness equipment, children play areas and jogging tracks, and some are air-conditioned for the comfort of visitors.
Building public parks is part of the efforts of the Ministry in building and developing public parks and picnic places across the municipalities, to provide healthy, recreational and tourist places to public.
The Ministry of Municipality said it had developed a number of beaches in various municipalities and prepared them to receive the public during the Eid Al Adha holidays.
Under the renovation project, the beaches are provided with walkways, shades of different designs, permanent toilets, kiosks, barbecue areas, play areas for children, and volleyball and football grounds.
Dedicated walkways for people with special needs have also been built at some beaches. The lighting system at almost all beaches is powered by solar energy.
