ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) lost much of ground in August 22 by-polls as it failed to fulfil its election promises, notably local government elections within 90 days of its rule in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

It  had claimed that it had done homework to strengthen the local government system to resolve people’s problems and undertake development and socio-economic issues.

It had also claimed to have finalised the basic structure of the local government by devolving powers to the village level.

Only 14 parties disclose assets

ISLAMABAD: While the deadline for declaring assets looms, out of 230 registered political parties, only 14 have submitted statements to the Election Commission of Pakistan.

The last date for submitting details, a mandatory requirement under the election law, expires tomorrow. Except for Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam  and Awami Muslim League, the leadership of no other mainstream parties has submitted details.

Under the Political Parties Order 2002, every party must submit within 60 days from the close of each financial year, a consolidated statement of accounts audited by a chartered accountant.
