Would-be immigrants sit on the ground after disembarking from an Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) patrol boat at the AFM’s Maritime Squadron base at Haywharf in Valletta’s Marsamxett Harbour, yesterday. Eighty-four immigrants, believed to be Eritreans and Syrians, were rescued from a dinghy which was sinking 29km south of Malta while trying to reach European soil from Africa.
