Sharif cancels Turkey visit

Islamabad: Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif cancelled yesterday his visit to Turkey in light of the country’s ongoing political crisis.
Sharif was set to attend the inauguration of new Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdogan. Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain will represent his country in the event instead.
Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is the 18th and current Prime Minister of Pakistan in office since June 2013.
A veteran politician and industrialist, he previously served as Prime Minister from November 1990 to July 1993.

 

Eight killed in  Karachi violence

Islamabad: Eight people including a doctor and four policemen lost their lives in the fresh wave of violence in Karachi, Pakistan’s Geo News reported yesterday.
Unknown gunmen shot dead Nadir Shah, an associated produce of Jaag TV, in Zaman Town area of Korangi.
A policeman identified as Abdul Rahim was gunned down in Nayabad area of Lyari in the wee hours yesterday.
Two other policemen were shot dead in Muslim Town area of New Karachi.
Both the policemen were deputed at the Special Investigation Zone West.
