QMA showcases rich heritage at Japanese expo

The Chairman of Administrative Control and Transparency Authority H E Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah opening the “Qatar Ferjaan Week in Tokyo” yesterday.

Tokyo: The Chairman of Administrative Control and Transparency Authority H E Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah who is also head of the Qatar-Japan Joint Higher Committee, yesterday opened the “Qatar Ferjaan Week in Tokyo”, which is organised by Qatar Museums Authority (QMA).

The opening ceremony was attended by Princess Takamado from the Japanese Imperial Palace, a number of senior officials from QMA and the Japanese government.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Al Attiyah expressed thanks to Japan for the warm welcome and hospitality accorded to the Qatari delegation underlining Qatar’s keenness to share its culture and identity with the people of Japan through such an event.

“Qatar is convinced of the valuable aspects of such culture, heritage and arts for defining and maintaining the character and identity of the Qatari people,” Al Attiyah said, noting that such aspects are a significant part of Qatar National Vision 2030.

Qatar is actively and strenuously acting to safeguard and secure its heritage and enhance its culture and arts out of its due commitment to care for the identities of its citizens,  Al Attiyah said and expressed hope that the Japanese people would be able, via such festival get acquainted with the nature, identity and diversity of the Qatari people, which would further enhance and deepen bonds of understanding and shore up bridges of friendship that would be remain sustainable for the years to come.

The five-day festival is taking place in Tokyo to celebrate the Gulf country’s 40th anniversary of relations with Japan.

Al Attiyah also hailed and praised Japanese culture which has already succeeded to reach all over the world.

The opening ceremony was attended by Qatar’s ambassador to Qatar Yusuf bin Mohamed Bilal, members of the delegation of Al Attiyah. QNA
