DOHA: Unlicensed beauticians offering their services at home are said to be cashing in on the huge rush at beauty salons ahead of Eid Al Adha.
A number of advertisements have been posted on social networking sites by women offering expert services at relatively low prices, Al Sharq reported. Some of them acquire fame through word of mouth if their customers are satisfied with their services.
A major factor driving women to such beauticians is the huge rush at beauty salons ahead of the Eid Al Adha holidays, said the daily.
Many customers are dissatisfied with the salons because they feel that they are not getting service worth the money they spend there. This happens mainly because of the rush.
“Every customer wants individual care, but due to the rush beauty salons are not able to provide that,” the daily said, quoting a Qatari woman.
She said that there were several expert beauticians in Qatar who did not have the money and other resources to set up a salon. They will gain popularity because the beauty salons are failing to satisfy customers, especially on special occasions like Eid, she said.
However, a number of women have reservations about the quality and reliability of services offered by the self-proclaimed beauticians.
“Advertisements on the social media cannot be trusted. I always to prefer to go to a salon because there is government monitoring on their services. How do we know these beauticians are using safe methods and quality products,” asked a woman named Hala Al Abid.
Several other women who spoke to the daily also said that they preferred to go to a reputable salon instead of leaving their health in the hands of unlicensed beauticians.
