DOHA: Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar (WCMC-Q) has extended the deadline for applications to its Biomedical Research Training Programme for nationals. The program was launched in 2011 and so far, 18 Qatari nationals have graduated from the scheme.
The research training programme is an opportunity for recent graduates to gain invaluable experience in world-class research laboratories. Although the programme is aimed at recent graduates who are interested in pursuing a career as a bench or clinical researcher, or research administrator, applications will be welcomed from nationals with a variety of degrees, for example computer science, business management or communication.
The training programme — which recommences in January — is a full-time, six-month employment commitment with trainees receiving a graduation certificate upon completion. The trainees are paid a stipend as part of a comprehensive compensation package. The programme is fully funded by WCMC-Q, and is organised in partnership with the Qatar Science Leadership Programme at Qatar Foundation. Applications can be submitted online until November 1 at http://researchtraining.qatar-weill.cornell.edu/pages/application.aspx. Interested candidates could also require further details from program coordinators Yassir Hussain, at yah2012@qatar-med.cornell.edu or Shaikha AlQahtani at saa2049@qatar-med.cornell.edu
