Doha: Qatar Petroleum (QP) and Qatar University (QU) have signed a framework agreement for research cooperation that focuses on establishing a number of bilateral research programmes in the areas of materials and corrosion, gas processing, and the environment.
The agreement was signed by Qatar Petroleum Managing Director Saad Sherida Al Kaabi and Qatar University President Professor Sheikha Abdulla Al Misnad.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Al Kaabi welcomed the agreement and said it will secure a strong link between education and applied research. He said: “The objective of the agreement is to connect QU faculty members, researchers and students with QP researchers in defined research projects.”
Professor Sheikha Al Misnad said: “We are pleased to partner with QP on this initiative that will add value to Qatar’s fast-developing culture of research, a critical area of focus at Qatar University. This agreement will serve to advance our collaboration with organisations in various sectors that place national concerns such as the environment within their research and innovation goals.”
