Doha: Spurred by a perfect start, Al Rayyan are not looking something less than the coveted Qatar Stars League (QSL) title, said the club’s Vice-President Rashed Al Khalifa in an interview yesterday.
He expressed these views in an interview with QSL online.
Al Khalifa noted that the start to the season is down to the good preparations by the players, coaches and technical staff in preseason.
“We have worked hard in the summer to sign the best local and professional talent. Then with the signing of head coach Jorge Fossati we have assembled the best possible staff,” he said.
Commenting on whether Al Rayyan will be able to continue with the same unbeaten approach Al Khalifa said: “First I hope that the squad stays fit and we don’t suffer any serious injuries, the season is long and we have to focus on each and every game.”
On Al Rayyan’s title push, Al Khalifa noted: “We will compete for the league title along with some other teams. We have had a good start to the season and that has given Al Rayyan with huge self-confidence.
“I have confidence that we will continue our good form in the coming games, and be amongst the title mix-up.”
Next week Al Rayyan will face Lekhwiya in round 7 of the QSL season on October 31.
Talking on the upcoming match Al Khalifa said: “Lekhwiya are the QSL champions, and have plenty of good players and a good coach, their last two defeats could happen to any team. I expect the game to be very difficult between the two teams, and I hope to be Rayyan can grab the win and continue the perfect start to the season. “
At the end of his interview with QSL online Al Khalifa had a word for the rans of Al Rayyan: “I  hope you all continue to support the  team and to attend the matches like you did against Al Arabi  we have prepared a strong team for you the fans and will continue to compete on all fronts for trophies for this club.”
