Doha: Qatar Petroleum (QP) highlighted Qatari gas activities and liquefied natural gas (LNG) achievements at the Gastech 2015 Conference and Exhibition which was inaugurated in Singapore today with a strong participation by (QP) and some of its subsidiaries and joint ventures.
In a press statement today, QP said that many VIPs and senior executives visited its pavilion, which prominently showcases the corporation’s extensive oil & gas activities as well as the operations of its Industrial Cities Directorate for the continued development of major gas-based industries in Qatar.
The statement said that the active participation of QP and other major Qatari companies in Gastech 2015 highlights the State of Qatar’s prominent stature in the global gas industry. The country’s North Field, which covers around 6,000 square kilometers in area, is the world’s largest single non-associated gas reservoir. Qatar is also recognized as the world’s largest producer and exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG), and it is also widely known as the global capital of the gas-to-liquids (GTL) industry.
In addition to the presence of Qatari companies in the exhibition, several members of the Qatari delegation also play a major role in the Gastech 2015 conference.
On the inaugural day of the event, RasGas CEO, Mr. Hamad Mubarak Al-Muhannadi, participated in a panel discussion focusing on the impact of lower oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices on LNG buyers and sellers over the next five years.
Senior Qatargas and RasGas executives are also taking part in Gastech 2015 as part of the commercial and technical streams of the conference, with focus on the global gas and LNG markets, and the changes expected to be seen over the medium to long terms.
First held in London in 1972 and now on its 28th edition, the Gastech Conference & Exhibition is a major event for the global gas industry and brings together the world’s leading energy companies and industry professionals working in fields related to natural gas production, development and utilization.
According to the organizers, the four-day event consistently attracts over 20,000 international visitors, 2,000 conference delegates, as well as 500 international, regional and local exhibitors. This year’s Gastech is supported by RasGas as the "Strategic Sponsor."
The Gastech Conference & Exhibition is held every 18 months in a different international location, and it was hosted once in Doha, Qatar, in October 2002. It was previously held in Seoul, South Korea, in March last year, and the next edition of the event will be held in Tokyo, Japan, on 4-7 April 2017.
