Senior executives at the Gastech 2015 in Singapore.

DOHA: Qatar Petroleum (QP), along with its subsidiaries and joint ventures, highlighted Qatar’s gas activities and LNG achievements at Gastech 2015 Conference and Exhibition. The conference and exhibition was inaugurated in Singapore yesterday with a strong participation by QP and some of its subsidiaries and joint ventures.
Many VIPs and senior executives visited the Qatar Petroleum pavilion, which prominently showcases the corporation’s extensive oil and gas activities as well as the operations of its Industrial Cities Directorate for the continued development of major gas-based industries in Qatar. Also part of the QP pavilion are the display booths of Qatargas Operating Company (Qatargas), RasGas Company (RasGas), and Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat). The active participation of QP and other major Qatari companies in Gastech 2015 highlights Qatar’s prominent stature in the global gas industry. The country’s North Field, which covers around 6,000 sqkm in area, is the world’s largest single non-associated gas reservoir. Qatar is also recognised as the world’s largest producer and exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG), and is also widely known as the global capital of the gas-to-liquids (GTL) industry.
In addition to the presence of Qatari companies in the exhibition, several members of the Qatari delegation also played a major role in the Gastech 2015 conference. On the inaugural day of the event, RasGas CEO Hamad Mubarak Al Muhannadi participated in a panel discussion focusing on the impact of lower oil and LNG prices on buyers and sellers over the next five years.
Senior Qatargas and RasGas executives are also taking part in Gastech 2015 as part of the commercial and technical streams of the conference, with focus on the global gas and LNG markets, and the changes expected to be seen over the medium to long term.
First held in London in 1972 and now on its 28th edition, the Gastech Conference and Exhibition is a major event for the global gas industry and brings together the world’s leading energy companies and industry professionals working in fields related to natural gas production, development and utilisation.
According to the organisers, the four-day event consistently attracts over 20,000 international visitors, 2,000 conference delegates, as well as 500 international, regional and local exhibitors. This year’s Gastech is supported by RasGas as the “Strategic Sponsor.” The Gastech Conference and Exhibition is held every 18 months in a different international location, and it was hosted once in Doha, Qatar, in October 2002. It was previously held in Seoul in March last year, and the next edition of the event will be held in Tokyo on from April 4 to 7 in 2017.
