DOHA: The massively re-developed paddock area inside the state-of-the-art Losail International Circuit is ready to welcome fans for the final round of the FIM Superbike World Championship, a top official has said.
Khalid Al Remaihi, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of Losail Circuit Sports Club (LCSC), said the recent upgrade will allow fans more space to roam about the paddock area where bike enthusiasts catch up with riders for photos or take autographs.
“A vast area has been revamped from the look you saw earlier. Our preparations started long back. We are ready to welcome the fans. When they (the fans) walk in over the weekend, they will enjoy the new look,” Al Remaihi said in an interview.
“The first 2,000 fans get special treatment this time,” he said.
“Those fans can enter the paddock area and see their heroes up close. The ones who love this sport, that is a special moment to cherish,” Al Remaihi said.
“I urge the racing fans to come and relive the sensation. I am sure they will enjoy a spectacular week of fun and speed,” he said.
Al Remaihi said the LCSC has also enhanced its safety measures around the circuit, meeting the requirements set by the world racing body.
“We have our organising committees working tirelessly to ensure a great week of racing. This is a top event followed by millions around the world. We are ready,” Al Remaihi said in an interview with Al Sharq newspaper.
“The presence of international media - print and TV - adds to the last leg of this year’s world championship,” he said.
“The Losail International Circuit is the heart of the bike racing in the region. Qatar continues to promote the sport and we are thrilled to be part of the world calendar,” he said.
Al Remaihi said the 2016 Motul FIM Superbike World Championship prize giving ceremony will be held at the Paddock once the race podium show of the WorldSBK Race 2 ends.
He said the first 2,000 guests with grandstand tickets will have special access to the ceremony.
Al Remaihi said the ticket prices have been set keeping affordability in mind.
Last week, the organisers said the grandstand ticket is priced at QR 100 for the 3-day event. The three-day ticket will give access to the Paddock for the first 2,000 guests. The WorldSBK VIP Lounge ticket is priced at QR 1,200 for tomorrow and Sunday and QR 700 for Sunday only.
“If you get to the hospitality area - above the pit garages - the fans will get an excellent view of the pit lane and starting grid in the terrace of the lounge,” Al Remaihi said.
Tickets can be purchased at www.lcsc.qa, www.worldsbk.com  www.q-tickets.com and during the event at the ticket booths of the circuit.
