Doha: The Pakistan Education Centre Alumni (PEC-A) is set to kick off its first sports event with the ‘PEC Alumni Super Sixes Tournament’ on Friday.
The knock-out tournament, which will begin with the first match at 7am at PEC cricket ground, will see participation from eight professional cricket teams in Qatar, including one from PEC-A. Draws between the teams will be held today by the organisers of the tournament.
The one-day sports event is open to the family members of the participating teams, members and former students of PEC, as well as current students and staff members of PEC. The final match will be held at around 3:30pm, which will be followed by prize distribution ceremony at PEC cricket ground. Although various organizations and different alumni chapters of universities and colleges exist here, PEC-A is the first official functioning alumni of a community school in Qatar, which was officially launched earlier this year.
The structure of the alumni comprises of two councils, the executive council and the management council, as per the constitution drafted by the alumni. The Ambassador of Pakistan, Muhammad Sarfaraz A Khanzada, is the Patron-in-Chief of the alumni.
The Principal of PEC, Nargiz Raza Otho, is also a part of the senior management.
