Qatar Islamic Bank to sponsor Euromoney Qatar Conference

Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) has announced that it is the lead sponsor of the 2017 Euromoney Qatar conference. The 6th edition of the leading finance and investment conference will be held on the 5th and 6th of December. The conference, which is hosted by Qatar Central Bank, is held under the patronage of the Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa AlThani.
This year’s edition welcomes several government officials, senior economists and bankers from across the region as well as international delegations. Keynote speakers include H E Ali Shareef Al Emadi, Minister of Finance; H E Sheikh Abdulla bin Saoud Al Thani, Governor of Qatar Central Bank; Hamish McRae, Principal Economic Commentator at the Independent Online; and Sarkis Yoghourtdjian; Advisor at the Banking Supervision and Regulation of the Board of Governors at the Federal Reserve System.
The event will examine the global economic outlook, Qatar’s economy and the various opportunities and challenges that face the international investment community. In addition, the conference will discuss the need for digital growth innovation, the financial system cyber security, and how FinTechs are becoming of increasing importance to Qatar and the wider Mena region.
Commenting on the sponsorship, QIB’s Group CEO, Bassel Gamal said: “We confirm our commitment to supporting the 2017 Euromoney conference; a well-established platform for industry experts to share knowledge and expertise regarding the changing financial sector in Qatar and the world. QIB will continue to support initiatives which promote the development of Qatar’s economy.”
QIB’s Chief Financial Officer, Gourang Hemani, will participate at a thematic panel titled: “Qatar’s Economy”, which will cover several topics related to the forecasts for Qatar’s economy in 2017 and beyond, including how lower hydrocarbon prices have affected the region and the outlook for the country’s infrastructure program as part of Qatar’s National Vision 2030.
