Doha: Regency Travel & Tours retained the title of ‘World’s Leading Travel Agency’ for the eighth consecutive year at the 2014 World Travel Awards at Cuisinart golf resort & spa in Anguilla, Caribbean Sea.
Over 300 international hospitality industry leaders attended the ceremony.
Tareq Abdullatif Taha, CEO, Regency Travel & Tours, said the achievement reflects the trust customers have placed in Regency’s high standard of service and the 30 percent growth over last year.
He said Regency strived hard to enhance service standards, offering customers value through a right mix of technology solutions and high standard of infrastructure and qualified human capital.
Regency has 45 branches, with more than 450 staff. A Luxury Lounge is opening soon at the head office on Suhaim Bin Hamad Street, Al Sadd.
Taha said air traffic in the Middle East would grow by 7.1 percent by 2015 compared to the global growth of 5.3. During 2016-2025, it is expected to grow at 5.2 percent in the Middle East and 4.4 percent globally.
He attributed the growth to the region’s location — central to Russia, Eastern Europe and India markets and the investment environment which is boosting tourism, especially in UAE and Qatar, which account for 50 percent of total visitors.
He said Qatar Airways has capitalised on the strategic location of the region and gained market share of travel from Asia to Africa and Europe, which has contributed to tourism growth and business investment while Hamad International Airport contributed to Qatar’s position in the global travel market.
Katara Hospitality won the title of World’s Leading Hospitality Company and Frasers Hospitality took the title of World’s Leading Service Apartment Brand.
