DOHA: Doha Film Institute (DFI) has extended the screening of Beasts of the Southern Wild, part of the Katara DFI Cinema programme, to include one additional showing on Thursday at 7pm.
This screening will replace last Thursday’s opening which was cancelled due to technical fault.
The film transports the viewer to an isolated bayou community where a six-year-old girl exists on the brink of orphanhood. Buoyed by the extraordinary imagination of childhood, she believes the universe is in balance, but when a fierce storm comes, she must learn to survive the catastrophe.
The film won over 15 international awards and was nominated for four Academy Awards, including, Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress in a Leading Role and Best Writing-Adapted Screenplay.
