DOHA: Students of all primary independent schools will be getting tips on healthy eating and physical exercise as part of an awareness campaign being launched by the Supreme Council of Health (SCH).

The SCH has launched the third phase of its “We Are Healthy’  campaign that will cover all the primary independent schools in the country. Earlier it was limited to only 34 independent schools.

SCH recently held a meeting with officials of the schools involved in the campaign to discuss details.

Sheikha Al Anoud bint Mohammed Al Thani, Director of Health Promotion and Non-Communicable Diseases Department at SCH, told the meeting that students will be encouraged to choose healthy food inside and outside the campus and engage in physical exercise.

The programme will run over eight weeks. Activities in each week will focus on a specific issue. Topics selected for the eight weeks are: Your health and food, healthy specifications for fast food, water — the source of life, choose your favourite sport, sleeping and health, your food and the health of your teeth, life without tobacco, and steps towards change.

SCH will hold activities to mark the National Sports Day, in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation, Primary Healthcare Corporation, Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar, Al Emadi Hospital, Al Ahli Hospital and Qatari Physicians Association. the peninsula
