DOHA: As the official technology partner of POWER-GEN Middle East 2013 Exhibition, Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP) will be hosting a series of technical tours at its premises for delegates from around the world on February 4. The tours will give delegates the opportunity to visit QSTP’s cutting-edge facilities, said a statement yesterday.

The tours will include visits to facilities such as Chevron Center for Sustainable Energy Efficiency, ConocoPhilips Water Sustainability Centre, ExxonMobil Research Qatar and Qatar Shell Research Center and offer delegates exclusive insights into extensive research methodologies and state-of-the-art techniques being carried out among today’s leading players in the power industry.

QSTP was established to grow Qatar’s “knowledge-based economy” by encouraging companies and institutes from around the world to develop and commercialise their technology in Qatar and by helping entrepreneurs launch technology businesses.

In just a short time, it has evolved into a unique business model of science and technology parks, becoming a centre for research and development in four areas — Energy, Environment, Health Sciences, and Information and Communication Technologies.

Commenting on the delegation’s visit, Khaled Al Remithi, Communications Director of QSTP, said: “POWER-GEN Middle East is an important event that attracts key global players in the power industry to exchange and experience latest trends and developments. QSTP is proud to host the delegation of experts as it gives us the opportunity to showcase to them how QSTP is spearheading some of the most advanced research in the area.”

POWER-GEN Middle East 2013 conference and exhibition, from February 4 to 6 at Qatar National Convention Centre, is one of the world’s biggest power industry events.

Apart from being a platform to exchange latest technological developments in the industry, it serves an important gateway to reiterate the role of the Middle East as one of the most dynamic power sectors in the world.
