DOHA: The Traffic Department with the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Interior organised a traffic awareness programme for Qatar Steel employees.
Lt. Jamal Mubarak Majli from Traffic Department, Yousuf Rashid Al Suwaidi, head of HSE at Qatar Steel, representatives from Community Reach out office at Public Relations Department (PRD) of the Ministry of Interior attended the program.
Lt. Jamal Majli explained the traffic rules concerning heavy vehicles. He asked those driving trucks transporting steel from factory to different distribution stores in the country to make sure that the items are firmly placed on the truck.
He asked them to comply with the permitted speed limit not to overtake other vehicles in any situation.
Faisal Hudawi, from Community Reach out Office at PRD gave a visual presentation on traffic rules. The presentation covered unsafe practices on the road such as speeding, wrong overtaking, using mobile phone while driving, not leaving adequate space between vehicles.
During an intervention, Lt. Jamal Majli stressed the importance of moving the vehicles from the road in case of minor traffic accidents. He added that drivers refusing to move the vehicle will be fined QR1,000.
Niyaz Abdul Majeed from Community Reach Out Office of gave a presentation on fines for traffic violations and the point system in the traffic law.
A quiz competition was held based on the presentations. The Traffic Department distributed leaflets on traffic safety to participants.
