DOHA: Qatar Insurance Company (QIC) yesterday signed a partnership agreement with Huawei, a global ICT solutions provider, to offer wearable TalkBand B1 devices on National Sport Day to promote and encourage a healthy and balanced lifestyle for all.
As a corporate citizen, QIC is committed to strategic partnerships that help build healthy and prosperous communities.
By offering Huawei TalkBand B1 devices to the winners and runners-up of Qatar Central Bank (QCB) Marathon on February 10, the company would once again demonstrate its commitment to build a healthier country.
The deal was signed by Ali Al Fadala, Senior Deputy Group President and CEO, QIC Group, and Philip Fu, General Manager, Huawei Tech Investment Co. Ltd (Qatar branch office) at QIC headquarters.
The smart device is a ‘Talk-and-Track’ band that offers fitness-related features and can be connected to Android and iOS-based gadgets.
In addition to its big-data tracking capabilities, the wristband device also features wireless voice calling by easily removing a built-in Bluetooth earpiece. The sleek band can also track steps taken, miles covered, calories burnt, activity time, progress and the quality and duration of sleep.
Al Fadala said: “QIC has carved out a distinctive approach towards corporate social responsibility (CSR) by demonstrating its continued commitment to local sporting events and to raise Qatar’s regional and global profile.
“Offering Huawei TalkBand B1s to the winners and runners-up of the marathon will encourage increased participation in sporting events across all age categories.
“Through our partnership with Huawei, we hope to further increase the well-being of all people and contribute to the development and fulfilment of Qatar National Vision 2030.”
Fu said: “We are delighted to partner with QIC to support and celebrate National Sport Day. Together with QIC, we are happy to offer our popular wearable device to help raise awareness about fitness and encourage healthy lifestyles and well-being among all people.
“Our TalkBand B1s’ will deliver the essential pillars of happiness — health, connection to family, contact with friends and access to work.”
