Doha, Qatar: Embassy of India, in association with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and the Indian Business & Professionals Council (IBPC), organised a roadshow on January 27, 2026 as part of the celebrations of National Tourism Day of India, to promote India’s iconic luxury tourist trains, Maharajas’ Express and Golden Chariot.
The roadshow highlighted India’s premium rail tourism offerings and showcased the country’s rich cultural heritage, royal legacy, and world-class hospitality through these award-winning luxury train journeys.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador of India to Qatar H E Vipul, underscored the significance of National Tourism Day in promoting sustainable and high-value tourism. He highlighted India’s growing appeal as a luxury tourism destination and the unique experiences offered by the Maharajas’ Express and the Golden Chariot, which combine heritage, comfort, and curated travel across some of India’s most celebrated destinations. He encouraged closer engagement between Indian and Qatari tourism stakeholders to further strengthen tourism cooperation.
Promila Gupta, Group General Manager, IRCTC, made a detailed presentation on the itineraries, onboard facilities, service standards, and distinctive features of both luxury trains. The presentation provided insights into the routes covered, thematic journeys, and the immersive cultural experiences offered to international travellers.
The roadshow was attended by leading tour operators, travel and tourism professionals, and social media influencers, who expressed keen interest in promoting India’s luxury rail tourism offerings among discerning travellers from Qatar and the wider region.
