DOHA: The fourth Qatar International Food Festival, which opened yesterday at the Museum of Islamic Art Park, offers food lovers a unique gastronomic journey on land, in the sea and the sky.
A first at the festival is the Dinner in the Sky, which offers visitors the gourmet experience of enjoying a three-course meal 40 metres above the ground. For QR500, a diner could be part of a group of 22 people who would together experience a scrumptious five-star meal from the W Doha Hotel. The dinner will be served hourly up to seven times a day throughout the festival.
For those who love the sea, the Diplomatic Club’s BBQ Donut, a floating food barge, is the perfect choice. Seating up to eight people, the barge features a specially installed barbecue grill equipped with all the necessary rigging and safety features to let patrons enjoy a full meal in an intimate group during a one-hour cruise. It is available after 6pm.
In addition, the festival offers ‘Tea on the Sea’, a 30-minute cruise in which traditional English tea and cakes with a Qatari twist, featuring Arabic coffee and Qatari desserts, are served.
Over 40 stalls from 20 of the best hotels in Doha, in addition to renowned restaurants in the country, are selling international food, from European and Arabic to American and Asian cuisine, at prices ranging from QR5 to QR20.
Groups of musicians and dancers, who will perform throughout the four-day food festival, enhance the dining experience. The festival comprises various zones including International, VIP, Snack, Family, Qatar UK and Healthy food zones.
Entry to the event is free. Vouchers for food and drink at the festival will be sold on site at the event. The festival is open today from 1pm till 11pm, tomorrow from 1pm to 10pm and on Sunday from 2pm to 10pm.
