ISLAMABAD: The Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Secretary Sajad Salim Hotiana is using social media to resolve issues facing the local people.
“We are thankful to him (the chief secretary) for updating his status on Facebook which has enabled us to post comment or lodge our complaints on any issue,” Shuakat Khan, a resident said.
The chief secretary receives complaints through social media site Facebook and then ensures that prompt action is taken to resolve the problem.
The chief secretary raided the city hospital soon after he received a complaint on the Facebook by a human rights activist Mohammad Farooq the other day regarding absence of facilities in the hospital. Hotiana issued directives for improving the hygienic condition of the hospital.
Hotiana is getting immense popularity among the residents, especially the educated youth of the region because of his public friendly attitude.
“Now we do not hesitate to inform the officialdom regarding what problems we are facing since they take us seriously as in case of non-serious attitude we approach the chief secretary who listens to us seriously,” said Khalid Hussain, a resident of Gilgit.
