Lausanne: Several clubs have been hit by sanctions imposed by FIFA's Disciplinary Committee on Tuesday for breaking rules regarding third-party influence or ownership (TPO) of players' economic rights.

TPO -- players' shares held by a third party -- has been banned by football's world governing body since May 1, 2015.

Europa League champions Sevilla have been fined 55,000 Swiss Francs (50,000 euros, $56,042), while Brazilian outfit Santos, the former club of current Barcelona striker Neymar, have been fined 75,000 CHF (68,600 euros, $76,890).

Both clubs have also been given warnings, while Dutch team FC Twente and Belgian side Sint-Truidense V.V. have also been ordered to pay fines of 185,000 CHF ($189,420) and 60,000 CHF ($61,640) respectively.

The highest-profile cases of third-party ownership came in 2006, when Argentine stars Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano moved to English club West Ham United and it was revealed that both players' economic rights were owned by separate companies, with Media Sports Investments brokering the deals.
