DOHA: Citizens from the Republic of South Africa registered and approved to cast vote in their country's fifth national election can exercise their right at the Embassy of South Africa in Qatar here tomorrow.
In a media statement issued to Qatar News Agency (QNA) Wednesday, HE the Ambassador of South Africa Saad Cachalia said, "South Africans living abroad including those living in Qatar who have registered and have received approval to cast their vote in Qatar will be able to do so on April 30 at the South African Embassy between 7am - 9pm."
Approximately 600 South Africans will cast votes during the course of the day, the envoy said.
Voters will vote for political parties of their choice for representation to the 400-Seat National Parliament in Cape Town, South Africa.
Twenty-nine political parties are contesting the election.
South Africa holds elections once every five years.
This is the fifth National Election since the advent of democracy in 1994 in the country.
This year also marks the 20th anniversary of South Africa's Freedom.
Ambassador Cachalia hailed South Africa and the State of Qatar's bilateral ties at an event hosted by the Embassy of South Africa Sunday to celebrate its Freedom Day observed April 27 every year.
At the event, the Embassy screened a short film depicting the life and times of South Africa's anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela who passed away last December at the age of 95. (QNA)
