KABUL: The international military coalition in Afghanistan says two of its service members died in an attack in the country’s east.
The Nato force said the two died yesterday, but gave no other details.
Coalition policy is for home countries to identify their military dead.
The deaths come two days after five British service members died in a helicopter crash in the southern province of Kandahar.
Kashmore blast kills one
Islamabad: One person was killed in a landmine explosion near Karampur in Pakistan’s Kashmore district yesterday, Pakistan’s Geo News reported.
Police said that the incident occurred at Goth Ali Nawaz Jaffery near Karampur early in the morning.
The body has been moved to a hospital.
Following the incident, a bomb disposal unit was called and the police have started investigations.
Lawmakers want more
ISLAMABAD: A parliamentary committee plans to discuss an increase in the travel allowances of lawmakers.
The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs will meet today “to consider increasing per kilometre charges of the parliamentarians” and “the possibility of issuance of traveller cards instead of tickets.”
The committee will also seek “permission to utilise air tickets during visits abroad for the members of parliament, their families and staff.”
Rockets land near airport
Islamabad: Unknown men fired two rockets towards Peshawar Airport, however, no loss of life has been reported in the attack, Pakistan’s Geo News reported.
One rocket fell near the runway while the other fell outside the boundary of the airport.
The Airport Security Force said no one was hurt in the rocket fire.
Officials said the rockets were fired from an unknown direction.
