He studied medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland and pursued his postgraduate studies at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, Rochester, USA. He joined Hamad Medical Corporation in 2000. He is the Secretary-General of the Gulf Heart Association. He is a member of the Joint Advisory Board of Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Fellow of the Society of Coronary Angiography and Interventions, and Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology.
