DOHA: Hundreds of workers will take part in a walkathon together with officials from varies ministries and institutions on Friday in the Industrial area to create awareness about work place safety.
Around 600 workers will begin the near the mosque in Alathia, Industrial area at 4 pm with officials from the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and Supreme Council of Health, to coincide with the World Day for Safety and Health at Work which was commemorated.
“The walk will be for nearly 20 minutes starting from the Al Athiya Street,” said Dr Mohamed Ali Mohamed Al Hajjaj, speaking on sidelines of an awareness programme held to mark the World Day for Safety and Health at Work yesterday.
Then awareness programmes on work site safety will be held at work places for one week.
Awareness lectures, workshops, first aid, free medical examinations will be held on May 9 at the Medical Commission. Deserving workers without health cards will be also provided with them at the event.
