QMD warns of strong wind; Mesaieed records 7.6 mm rainfall last night

Doha: The latest satellite and radar images indicate partly cloudy weather over the country and observing varying intensity of rain in the south and southeast parts of the country, thundery at times with strong winds today, stated Qatar Meteorological Department (QMD).

There are no warnings for weekend. On Friday and Saturday QMD said it will be hot during the day and mild at night.

It further added that automatic stations of the Meteorological Department, recorded the highest amount of rain from last night until now is 7.6 mm in Mesaieed city. It recorded 6.9mm in AlKaranah, 5.1mm in Mukaines, 4.5mm in Sealine, 2.5mm in Rawdat Rashid and less than 1mm in Doha and its environs.

Weather inshore until 6 p.m. on Thursday will be scattered clouds to partly cloudy at times with chance of scattered rain, slight dust at places, mild by night, the Department of Meteorology said in its daily weather report, warning of strong wind expected at places daytime.

Offshore will be partly cloudy at first becomes fine later, the report added, warning of expected strong wind and high sea by afternoon.

Wind inshore will be variable less than 05 knot at first, becomes mainly northwesterly 10 to 20 knot gusting to 30 knot at places daytime.

Offshore, it will be southwesterly to northwesterly 08 to 18 knot, increasing to 18 to 25 knot by afternoon.

Visibility will be 4 to 9/3 kilometers or less at times.

Sea state inshore will be 2 to 3 feet, rises to 5 feet by afternoon, while offshore it will be 3 to 5 feet, rises to 5 to 8 feet by afternoon.
