Doha: Transport providers have encouraged commuters to use public transport and associated facilities. Also the Ministry of Transport has advised commuters to use ‘Park and Ride’ service, as all public and private entities resume work tomorrow after the Eid holiday.
The Park and Ride facility is available near four Doha Metro stations — Lusail, Education City, Al Wakra and Al Qassar. “People using private vehicles can park their vehicles at Park and Ride parking spaces that are available at Qatar’s most vibrant areas and move around using the public transit system,” the Ministry has said in its social media handles.
The Park and Ride is one of the main projects of Public Bus Infrastructure Programme of the Ministry of Transport. It provides free parking spaces near Metro stations to encourage vehicle owners to use the modern public transportation systems to and from their destinations in less time and at a lower cost.
Also as many holiday makers are returning and visitors arriving in the country Qatar Rail has reminded of its services from the Hamad International Airport.
“We would like to remind travellers arriving through Hamad International Airport that they can reach key destinations in Doha through the Hamad International Airport T1 Station,” said Qatar Rail.
