Amir and Greek Prime Minister hold official meeting

Doha, Qatar: The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic HE Kyriakos Mitsotakis, held an official meeting on Wednesday at the Maximos Mansion in Athens.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Greek Prime Minister welcomed HH the Amir and the accompanying delegation, noting the continuous development of bilateral relations and expressing his aspiration to enhance cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the economic and investment fields. The Prime Minister affirmed his country's support for and solidarity with the State of Qatar following the Iranian attacks, and commended its ongoing efforts toward diplomatic dialogue and de-escalation.

For his part, HH the Amir expressed his pleasure at visiting the friendly Hellenic Republic, recalling the deep-rooted historical ties between the two countries. He thanked Greece for its supportive stance regarding the Iranian attacks and affirmed the State of Qatar's commitment to pursuing all efforts to de-escalate tensions and reach a solution through diplomatic dialogue.

His Highness also noted the success of Qatari investments in Greece, expressing his aspiration to expand them, particularly in the areas of military cooperation and sectors of mutual interest.

During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of defense, trade, investment, energy, information technology, culture, and education, in addition to exchanging views on the most prominent regional and international developments.

On the regional level, the two sides discussed the situation in the Middle East, particularly in Lebanon, emphasizing the importance of de-escalation and reaching a lasting solution that guarantees its stability. They also reviewed the latest developments regarding the agreement between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, and stressed the need to ensure freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and to secure energy routes and international supply chains.

The meeting was attended by Chief of the Amiri Diwan HE Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Khulaifi, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, and several members of the accompanying delegation.

From the Greek side, Minister of National Defense HE Nikos Dendias, Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Giorgos Gerapetritis, and a number of senior officials were present.

HH the Amir and the Greek Prime Minister held a bilateral meeting during which they reviewed the cooperation relations between the two countries and ways to develop them, in addition to exchanging views on regional and international issues of common interest.
