Doha, Qatar: The Planning, Quality, and Innovation Department at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has officially launched the Institutional Excellence Awards System, which is structured around four key tracks: the Ministry-Level Excellence Award, the National Government Excellence Award, the Regional Excellence Award, and the Global Excellence Award.

This initiative is designed to enhance administrative performance and foster a culture of positive competition among the Ministry’s various departments.

In line with this initiative, the Ministry organised a ceremony to honour several departments and committees that demonstrated outstanding performance during the first quarter of 2025. The event included the presentation of the Collaborative Departments Award and the Outstanding Committee Award. The ceremony was attended by Undersecretary of the Ministry H E Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al Thani, along with a number of department directors and section heads.

Held at the Ministry’s headquarters, the ceremony saw the Undersecretary present awards to the Mosque Supervision Section (Mosques Department), the Personnel Affairs Section (Human Resources Department), and the Endowment Development Section (General Directorate of Endowments), all of which received the Collaborative Departments Award. Meanwhile, the Outstanding Committee Award was presented to the Qatar Mushaf Committee in recognition of its effective contributions to enhancing the institutional work environment and improving the Ministry’s overall performance.

The Undersecretary reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting excellence and inspiring all staff to contribute to the Ministry’s developmental objectives, religious mission, and national responsibilities. He also noted that these efforts align with the vision of Qatar’s wise leadership to achieve institutional excellence and international distinction.

In his opening remarks, Director of the Planning, Quality, and Innovation Department Dr. Mohammed Ghanem Al-Kuwari emphasised that the awards ceremony reflects the Ministry’s commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and motivation, laying down strong institutional foundations that support innovation and productivity, and advancing the Ministry’s strategic goals through performance indicators and measurable impact.

He explained that the Ministry’s Institutional Excellence Awards System is based on a comprehensive roadmap with four main tracks.

The first track consists of internal incentive awards, which are periodically presented to departments and committees within the Ministry to encourage collaboration and institutional integration; the current ceremony is part of this track.

The second track includes national excellence awards issued by various governmental and non-governmental bodies within the country, most notably the Qatar Government Excellence Award.

The third track focuses on regional excellence awards across the Arab world.

The fourth and final track highlights global institutional excellence awards, which aim to position the Ministry on the international stage.
