The Youth Centers Department and the Youth Activities Department which were under the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage will now be under the new ministry, according to a report by Al Sharq.

The department has 26 institutions under its wings, which comprise public and specialised centres, special needs centres, technology services and volunteer activity centres as well as youth clubs and associations.

The Youth Centers Department  aims to discover and promote young talents culturally, scientifically and ethically. It also aims to prepare youth programmes and provide support in addition to supervising, assessing and following up implementation of various activities at youth centres.

It is also responsible for supervising Qatari scouts associations, organising youth festivals in Qatar and abroad, hosting public service camps and supervising the formation of mobile groups.

Some departments at the Qatar Olympic Committee will also be transferred to the Ministry of Youth and Sports such as Projects Department and the Center for Leadership Development.
