New York: The United Nations (UN) Commission on Human Rights has expressed deep concern over the rising Israeli settlers' attacks against Palestinians in Ramallah in the occupied West Bank and said that they are not isolated incidents.

Spokesperson for the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) Thameen Al Kheetan said on Sunday that dozens of armed settlers launched coordinated attacks on several villages in Ramallah and Nablus on June 25, setting fire to Palestinian cars and homes and opening fire with live ammunition.

Al Kheetan added that three Palestinians were killed by Israeli occupation forces during an attack that targeted a village near Ramallah, while at least six others were injured by gunfire.

The OHCHR Spokesperson said that the occupation forces claimed that Palestinians had thrown stones and used firearms against settlers and security forces. Moreover, he stressed that the attack on the village was not an isolated event, rather is part of a consistent pattern shown by the occupation forces.

He added that despite Israel being the occupying power with the responsibility of protecting the Palestinian population, its forces routinely refrain from intervening in such situations.

Al Kheetan cited OHCHR reports which show that since October 7, 2023, settlers have killed 14 Palestinians in the West Bank, including two children.
