Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs is hosting its annual Summer Quranic Centres programme at 12 mosques across Qatar, offering children a structured summer experience that combines Quran memorisation and recitation with educational, cultural and recreational activities aimed at strengthening Islamic values and personal development.

It aims to make productive use of the summer vacation while strengthening children’s connection with the Holy Quran and promoting Islamic values and positive behaviour.

The strong participation reflects the appeal of the Ministry’s Quranic programmes among different age groups and its efforts to provide an engaging learning environment that supports balanced personal development. The programmes are structured according to participants’ ages, educational backgrounds and Quranic abilities.

The summer centres go beyond Quran memorisation and recitation by incorporating educational and cultural programmes aimed at developing well-rounded personalities.

The summer centres offer two main programmes: “Abjad” and “Al-Maher bil Quran”, designed to meet the needs of participants at different stages of Quranic learning.

The “Abjad” programme is aimed at children aged between five and nine. It focuses on teaching Arabic letters and developing correct reading skills, alongside memorisation and recitation of shorter Quranic chapters.

The programme divides children into four groups according to their level, ranging from beginners who are unfamiliar with the Arabic alphabet to more advanced learners who have already studied basic lessons.

Alongside Quranic learning, Abjad participants take part in educational, cultural and recreational activities designed to develop their intellectual and behavioural skills while introducing them to Islamic values and etiquette in an engaging environment.

The second track, “Al-Maher bil Quran,” is designed for Quran memorisers and participants seeking to strengthen their Quranic proficiency.

It includes a Quran revision stream for participants who have memorised at least three parts, with levels ranging from revision of three parts to revision of the entire Quran.

A second stream is dedicated to students wishing to memorise new portions of the Quran. Participants can follow structured plans to memorise two, three, four or five parts during the programme.

Under Abjad, students learn about ablution, prayer, supplications and Islamic etiquette, while also taking part in cultural competitions, mental games and purposeful recreational activities.

Al-Maher bil Quran participants receive more specialised educational and scientific lessons, including reflection on Surah Al-Hujurat and Tajweed studies based on the classical works Tuhfat Al-Atfal and Al-Muqaddimah Al-Jazariyyah.

The integrated approach combines Quranic knowledge with values, discipline, positive behaviour and understanding, supporting the development of participants’ character alongside their academic and recitation skills.

The programme is being conducted at 12 mosques in different parts of the country and runs in the morning from 8am to 11am, Sunday through Thursday, under the supervision of specialised Quran teachers and supervisors.
