Doha to host AIPS Executive Board meeting in October

DOHA: The Qatar Sport Press Committee (QSPC) will host the Executive Board meeting of the Association Internationale De La Presse Sportive (AIPS) on October 21 and 22, a top official confirmed yesterday. 

The meeting will be held on the sidelines of the FINA Swimming World Cup to be staged in Doha in October 2013, QSPC President Mohammad Abdullah Al Malki said.

Al Malki said that the QSPC has completed all arrangements for the event to be held in Doha for the second time under the patronage of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC). 

Al Malki added that the AIPS has invited the QOC Secretary General Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani to open the AIPS Executive Board meeting and deliver a presentation on the schools Olympic program and the National Sport Day.

Al Malki also confirmed that the QSPC has invited the Local Organising Committees of the different world championships to be held in Qatar, such as 2015 IHF World Championship, and 2022 FIFA World Cup, to brief the attending media representatives about these events. 

QFA gets set to welcome teams for GCC U-17 event 

 

DOHA: The Qatar Football Association (QFA) is ready to welcome teams set to take part in the 10th GCC Under-17 Cup at Aspire Academy from September 3 to 12. 

The Qatari team has been pooled in Group A alongside Kuwait and Oman while Group B includes Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.

The opening match will be staged on September 3 when Qatar will take on Kuwait. 

The same day Saudi Arabia will clash against the United Arab Emirates in the second match.

QFA also said the Qatari team’s next assignment will be the qualifiers for the 2014 AFC Under-16 Cup. Kyrgyzstan will host group B of the qualifying event that includes Qatar, Oman, Bangladesh and Kyrgyzstan. AGENCIES
