DOHA: The Arab Woman Awards in Qatar will be held for the second consecutive year in partnership with the Qatari Businesswomen Association, magazines publisher ITP Consumer announced yesterday.
The event, which will be hosted by Aljazeera News Presenter Fairouz Ziani, will take place on October 21 at the W Doha Hotel.
Drawn from the worlds of commerce, medicine, the arts and journalism, the board of judges includes Senior Director, Human Resources at Ooredoo, Bothaina Al Ansari, Director Communications for the Securities and Exchange Commission, Dr Nawal Sheikh, Marketing and Communication Director for the Anti-Doping Laboratory Qatar, Mashael M Al Ansari, one of Qatar’s leading artists, Amal Al Aathem, Creative Director for Darz Designs, Aisha Al Bedded, and representing ITP is Editor-in-Chief at ITPLifestyle, Nadine El Chaer.
Vice Chairwoman at Qatari Businesswomen Association, Aisha Alfardan, said: “Hosting this prestigious award in Qatar for the second year is a testament to the development of women in our society and economy.”
The winner of the Inspirational Woman Award in 2012, Bothaina Al Ansari, said: “The recognition of female achievements in the Arab world is an important step in encouraging greater empowerment and economic participation. Setting an example for younger generations that dedication and determination can result in great achievements.”
The awards recognise the accomplishments of women within the spheres of the arts, entrepreneurship, fashion, medicine and charity; mirroring the judges own areas of excellence and expertise.
The Arab Woman Awards now run annually in UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and will be launched in KSA in 2014. To date, the Arab Woman Awards has recognised the accomplishments of over 130 females from different walks of life. Among the previous winners were Aisha Hussein Alfardan, professor of Physics at Qatar University Ilham Yousef Al Qaradawi and Vanity Room owners Aisha Al Mesned, Alia Al Attiya and Al Banderi Al Attiya.
The Arab Woman Awards will be presented at a gala lunchtime ceremony attended by 300 VIP female guests.
