Officials cutting a cake to mark 75th Anniversary of Pakistan’s Independence Day during an event organised by Read Pakistan.
Doha: Qatar Chapter of Read Pakistan organised a family get-together to introduce Read Pakistan to the community and to celebrate 75th Anniversary of Pakistan’s Independence Day with the community at Retaj Salwa Resort.
The celebration started with the national anthems of Qatar and Pakistan, followed by opening speech by Shahida Khan who introduced Read Pakistan to the audience.
A short video clip was presented to share their achievements in Pakistan, and their efforts to expand them internationally. To make an impact on young readers, two highly motivational speeches were delivered by children. These include Zakariya Nadeem and Ayesha Mushtaq.
A Tableau was played by some kids on famous song ‘Dil Dil Pakistan’ prepared by Sobia Arif. Dr. Sadia Ishaq highlighted the role of women in freedom movement of Pakistan. In her speech she explained how Fatima Jinah supported her brother (Quad e Azam Mohhamad Ali Jinah).
Women can also play a vital role in the society. The second part of the session was Independence Day celebration that started with vert information, yet entertaining, quiz on Pakistan.
This was jointly conducted by Maryam Khalid, Rimsha Khalid and Mazhar Yousufzai and kept the audience fully engaged.
This segment also included singing competition among man and women, and children. Also, for the children ‘Best-Dressed’ competition was held. These were conducted by experienced Farzana Safdar. At the same time, to keep younger audience busy, a face painting session was held in parallel. This was well-conducted by Abeer Atiq and Areej Atiq.
The formal session ended with note of thanks by Uzma Ansari, and a closing speech by Waheed Ullah Wazir, Community Welfare Attaché with Pakistan Embassy in Qatar. He applauded the effort by the ladies of the community making such a grand community session a success.
Wazir encouraged the community to continue contributing towards the well being of Qatar along with supporting Pakistan. He distributed certificates of excellence among the team Read Pakistan Qatar and the organizing committee issued by Read Pakistan and Pakistan Women Forum Qatar.
The get-together finished with the traditional cake cutting ceremony combined with traditional beat of the drum. Various gifts were given to the winners of activities.
