Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani sent a cable of greetings to the President of Czech Republic on the occasion of his country’s National Day. The Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani also sent a cable greeting the Czech president on the same occasion.
Prime Minister receives Lebanese ambassador
Doha: The Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani met yesterday Lebanese Ambassador in Doha Hassan Qassim Najem. They discussed aspects of cooperation in issues of common interest and ways of enhancing them.
Centre to raise awareness on public transport
DOHA: Qatar is planning to set up an education centre to raise awareness among the youth about the benefits of using public transport, the Minister of Transport H E Jassim Seif Ahmed Al Sulaiti has said.
The project was among a number of issues discussed during a meeting between the Minister and Secretary-General of UITP (International Association of Public Transport) Alain Flausch recently.
The Minister who is also Chairman of UITP MENA discussed with the UITP official Qatar’s future public transport plans and various initiatives for developing public transport in the country and the region, said a release issued by the public transport operator Mowasalat yesterday.
The Minister said that one of the largest projects in Qatar under QRail is an education centre for public transport “that will provide education and awareness specially to the youth for a sustainable future by understanding the benefits of public transport”.
