DOHA: The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has introduced cartoon characters that represent a family called ‘Rashid’s Family.’ The family portrays the day-to-day life of a Qatari family unit.
The ages of the family members encompass all stages of the lifecycle from infancy, through childhood, adolescence and adulthood, to old age.
The characters will be utilised to convey essential information and messages about the importance of the adoption of a healthy lifestyle to the general public. This is in line with PHCC’s strategy, which aims to develop a prevention-based approach to tackling diseases.
The family consists of eight characters — Abu Rashid, Um Rashid, Rashid, Amal, Abdullah, Mariam, Salem and Hayat. Abu and Um Rashid are the parents of Rashid and the grandparents of the children. They are 75 years and 65 years old respectively. Rashid is physician aged 45 and his wife Amal is a science teacher who is 40 years old.
The couple have four children together: 17-year old Abdullah; 13 year old Mariam; nine year old Salem and one year year old Hayat.
The introduction of the cartoon family aims to emphasise the key message of PHCC’s first campaign which is ‘Care’, gain a higher degree of stakeholder engagement and build the interest and knowledge of children and adolescents about health. In fact, the characters will provide a more family-friendly approach for the promotion of wellbeing and health.
