Helsinki: Qatar took part in the 119th annual FAI General Conference, held in Helsinki, Finland, with representatives from 43 countries, alongside the FAI’s subsidiary commissions.

Qatar was represented by Secretary-General of the Qatar Air Sports Committee (QASC) Hazza Hamad Al Attiyah and Dr. Omar Al Khayyat, QASC’s technical expert, who participated in discussions and work sessions addressing the latest updates in air sports on the global stage. Co-chaired by FAI President Greg Principato and FAI Secretary-General Markus Haggeney, the agenda included deliberations on the federation’s activities and upcoming global tournaments, as well as the approval of the 2026 financial budget.

The conference featured the launch of the FAI Forum under the theme “Working Better Together”, reflecting the commitment to reinforcing collaboration and sharing expertise among member states. In interactive panel discussions with an elite group of international experts, participants tackled pivotal subjects such as air safety, innovation, airspace management, and the role of women in air sports.

Upon wrapping up the conference, a vote was held to select Lausanne, Switzerland, as the host of the 120th FAI General Conference in October 2026.
