DOHA: Doha Film Institute (DFI) held its annual meet for Qatari artists and innovators at W Doha Hotel ahead of the opening of the second Ajyal Youth Film Festival on Monday.
DFI Acting CEO and Festival Director Fatima Al Rumaihi stressed the important role Qatari intellectuals play in enriching the local cultural scene.
She said Ajyal aims to enhance interest in cultural innovation and highlight capacities and innovations of youth in Qatar and the Arab region. DFI not only encourages youth to focus on filmmaking but also works to provide them with platforms to express ideas and give them intellectual and cultural experiences.
The festival from December 1 to 6 will feature 90 films from 43 countries. Twenty films by Qatari and expatriate filmmakers will be shown on December 4 and 5.
