DOHA: A majority of Qataris the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs helped get jobs in 2013-14 (April 2013 to March 2014) were secondary school certificate holders.
Some 68.3 percent of 3,672 people the ministry helped get jobs during the period had attended secondary schools, and only 27.9 percent of them were men.
Al Sharq reported yesterday citing figures from the secretariat-general of the Cabinet that the ministry’s Inspection Department made 47,090 inspections of companies, including 12,440 to check their compliance with health and occupational safety rules.
At least 28 new nurseries (baby-care facilities or crèches) were given licences in the year by the Family Development Department of the Social Affairs wing of the ministry.
Some eight training centres of different types were also licensed by the department during the year.
The Social Affairs wing received 2,321 requests from Qataris for housing during the period.
